The office of Graduate Student and Postdoctoral Development (GSPD) is the hub of professional development for all graduate students and postdocs at UMBC. Within our office is PROMISE, a community, and set of programming mainly designed for minoritized scholars in the sciences. PROMISE programming was NSF-funded from 2003-2018 and included a PROMISE network across UMBC, UMB, and College Park. This programming, community, and network continue to thrive on our campuses today.

Expanding on the PROMISE programming is the RISE UPP AGEP PROMISE Academy Alliance, a fellowship for underrepresented postdocs within the University System of Maryland (USM) who seek a tenure track position in USM.
