Description
The National Postdoc Association (NPA) has partnered with Michigan State University's Graduate School and Office of Postdoctoral Affairs to present this highly-acclaimed film, Picture a Scientist(https://www.pictureascientist.com/), about women in science.
While the film is screened, we'll host a group of UMBC graduate students, postdocs and staff so we can be in community together and available for conversation before, during (via chat) and after the film.
Here is a description of the film:
“PICTURE A SCIENTIST chronicles the groundswell of researchers who are writing a new chapter for women scientists.” Three scientists “lead viewers on a journey deep into their own experiences in the sciences, ranging from brutal harassment to years of subtle slights. Along the way…we encounter scientific luminaries - including social scientists, neuroscientists, and psychologists - who provide new perspectives on how to make science itself more diverse, equitable, and open to all.”
